Occupational Health and Safety Policy

Porcupine Engineering Services (PES) considers health and safety a fundamental principle governing all of our activities.

In matters of occupational health and safety, PES sets an objective of zero workplace accidents. We also aim to eliminate all risks and/or dangers at the source. The methods used by PES include, among others:

  • Ensuring that employees are well informed and respect the legislation related to occupational health and safety;
  • Giving information regarding occupational health and safety to supervisors and employees;
  • Stating responsibilities and obligations of supervisors and employees regarding occupational health and safety;
  • Providing the framework to reduce occupational health and safety risks;
  • Encouraging prevention of industrial accidents and occupational diseases.

As an employer, PES is responsible for:

  • Ensuring protection of its employees regarding occupational health and safety;
  • Ensuring, for all workplaces under its responsibility, the requirements of applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws are met, notably the national requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act;
  • Reminding its employees of the known and predictable risks that their workplaces present for their health and safety;
  • Providing first-aid equipment and establishing a procedure which allows employees who have been injured while at work to receive first-aid treatment without delay;
  • Support, with documentation, all industrial accidents, occupational diseases and all other situations presenting risks that it is aware of;

Our employees and subcontractors are responsible for:

  • Respecting instructions related to occupational health and safety provided by PES and the legislation;
  • Taking the necessary measures in order to ensure their own health and safety and also that of their colleague and of anyone who is linked to the activities of the employee;
  • Advising their superior of all situations that are likely to be a risk for their health and safety or that of their colleague or other persons to whom PES permits access;
  • Taking part in the elimination of health risks and in the prevention of industrial accidents and occupational diseases;
  • Reporting all accidents or incidents that have caused harm to themselves, their colleagues or others.

We are committed to helping our clients continuously improve the integration of environmental protection issues into all their activities.

As part of our commitment, we will ensure that all of our activities are in compliance with applicable environmental laws and regulations.

We will raise the awareness of our employees and subcontractors so environmental protection is an integral part of their activities.
